About Me

Lucas' Picture.jpeg

Hello, and welcome to my ePortfolio! I created this site when I was a grad student at Auburn. Since this site is on the Auburn ePortfolio examples gallery, I'm keeping this ePortfolio intact (this message here being the only change). If you want more up-to-date information about me, check out my webpage. Have fun exploring this ePortfolio!

My name is Lucas Adelino. I am an educator with a M.S. in Adult Education at Auburn University. For most of my time at Auburn, I  worked as a Program Assistant to the ePortfolio Project, housed under the university's office of University Writing. I currently serve as an academic tutor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I was born and raised in Brazil, where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Communication/Journalism from the Federal University of Pernambuco. During these formative years, I worked in several PR jobs in my native town of Recife. In 2017, I left the city I had called home for 24 years to come to the United States.

In early 2018, I began my Master's program at Auburn. A few months later, I started working at University Writing. These experiences were exciting, new, and challenging to me: I was learning how to adapt not only to my new job and graduate program but to adapt to life in another country as well. Ultimately, these experiences were the most impactful things that ever happened in my life, and, after a short adaptation period, I grew confident in my roles as an administrator, researcher, and teacher in training.

In May 2020, I graduated from Auburn with a Master's of Science in Adult Education and a certificate in Adult Education and English Language Teaching. While pursuing the certificate, I took a few linguistics courses, which were the most impactful and inspiring learning experiences I have had. I discovered a passion for language, and intend to further my graduate studies in the field of Linguistics.
